Andy Murray faces Nicolas Mahut at the Hopman Cup on Wednesday.
Britain's chances of reaching the final again currently hang by a thread after losing to Italy earlier in the week. Murray enjoyed a fine 7-5, 6-1 win over Potito Starace in just 77 minutes but in the mixed doubles Starace and French Open champion Francesca Schiavone proved the stronger pair.
Murray was suffering a little from jetlag early on against Starace and after a couple more days practising in the scorching heat the world number four will feel a little more acclimatised when he takes on Mahut.
There was much anticipation over Mahut's rematch with John Isner after their famous record-breaking epic at Wimbledon last year. However to the relief of almost everyone in the arena it was done and dusted in straight sets, Isner winning 6-3, 7-6.
Murray has won both his previous matches against Mahut in straight sets and expect little different this time round. The surface in Perth is not really fast enough for Mahut to cause him serious trouble.
