Title favourite Andy Murray is the headline draw at the Thailand Open and he takes on Michael Berrer during Thursday's evening session.
Murray spent the Davis Cup weekend moaning bitterly about the length of the schedule and the number of mandatory events the players are forced to compete in so it may seem a tad ironic that just over a week later, he's back in action at a very much non-mandatory ATP 250 events while the rest of the world's top five take a breather.
Presumably Murray has been attracted by the lure of the bulky appearance fees available at these Asian events. Tennis is a big draw over in Bangkok and many of tennis' leading names have been drawn here over the past ten years.
Murray has fond memories of the event after reaching his first ATP final here back in 2005, breaking the top 100 in the process. However he'll be trying to forget about his last appearance when Tim Henman schooled him in the art of attacking serve-volley tennis in the first round a year later.
Murray's only previous match with Berrer came at the French Open when the German received considerable attention after refusing to use the drop shot against a clearly injured Murray, allowing the fourth seed to regroup before going on to win 6-2, 6-3, 6-2.
Prediction: Murray in two.
