Murray put in another unconvincing performance on Thursday to defeat Ernests Gulbis 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 in the third round. It is reminiscent of Murray's start to the Rogers Cup, he struggled through the opening rounds before suddenly stepping things up dramatically in the quarters. It will be interesting to see whether he can do the same today.
Murray suffered during the fierce early afternoon heat against Gulbis and he will have to endure similar conditions today with the organisers once again scheduling him first on centre.
Fish has been a problem opponent for the world number four in 2010. The American beat him 6-4, 6-4 at the Miami Masters and ruined Murray's Wimbledon preparations with a 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 win at Queens.
Fish is enjoying some of the best tennis of his career this summer and so far this week he has put out Fernando Verdasco and Richard Gasquet in straight sets.
However Murray has beaten the American three times in the past and is confident of getting revenge. "When I played against him both times this year, I was struggling with my form," he said. "But I've previously had some good results against him and I'm playing a lot better than I was a few months ago.”
