Murray is aiming to go one better than last year in Indian Wells when he reached the final before being outplayed by Rafael Nadal in a final ruined by strong winds sweeping across the desert.

Murray has a huge number of points to defend over the next few weeks having also won the Miami title last year and he can ill afford an early exit in either tournament.

However he is in the form of his life having reached his second grand slam final in Melbourne earlier this year. Murray fans need not to be too alarmed by his early defeat in Dubai, a fortnight ago, Murray looked very rusty after a week of inactivity and you can expect he will be 100% ready for this tournament.

He leads Seppi 2-1 on head-to-heads. Seppi won on grass four years ago but Murray beat him twice last year, 7-6, 7-5 in Rotterdam and 6-1, 6-4 at Queens.

Seppi who is ranked 46, has had an average year to date. He has not been past the second round of any tournament and that streak does not look like ending here.
