Andy Murray's ex-coach Miles Maclagan believes his former charge can go on to win the US Open which begins next week.

Murray reached the final in New York two years ago and after another successful build-up to Flushing Meadows in which he beat Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, Maclagan believes he is ready to go all the way.

"He is ready to win no question," Maclagan said. "I watched him win in Toronto and he played well and is doing a lot of things right. He never wants to lose but losing early in Cincinnati could be a blessing. Last year he did well at both tournaments and was tired starting the US. Those extra couple of days of rest will help. He is playing well and can win it."

Murray will be seeded fourth for what he has often described as his favourite slam of the year. Murray will go into the tournament without a coach, he will begin his hunt for Maclagan's replacement once it is over.
