Murray is tentative about his chances over the next fortnight.

Andy Murray begins his comeback from a wrist injury later today against Spanish wildcard Daniel Gimeno-Traver. The injury kept Murray out for a month, forcing him to miss tournaments in Tokyo and Shanghai.

However with Federer and Djokovic opting to compete in Basel this week, Murray is top seed in Valencia.

He shouldn’t have too many problems against Gimeno-Traver, an out and out clay courter who’s playing his first tournament indoors for a year.

Hopes are high that Murray will become the first British man to win the end of year Masters Cup later this month in London but for the time being Murray is eager to play down expectations on his form.

"The wrist is fine. I'm still icing it and exercising it but it's tough to do too much about it specifically," he told his official website. “I’ve played two matches in nine weeks, so I wouldn't be surprised if I play poorly at first, but I will try my best."

Murray is a massive favourite at 1/20 with Sky Bet while Gimeno-Traver is 10/1 with bet365.

Murray is 6/4 to win the title this week with bet365.
