Murray can overtake world number 2 Nadal in the coming weeks, but he will need to beat an impressive Davydenko in Montreal first.

Andy Murray and Nikolay Davydenko have contrasted each other sharply post-Wimbledon. Besides Montreal, Murray hasn't been active at all onthe tour since losing in the Wimbledon semis in July while Davydenko,on the other hand, has been hyperactive since falling in the third round there.

Murray and Davydenko have drawn one another in the quarter finals of Montreal's Roger's Cup (the Canadian Open) and head to head there is nothing between the two athletes as they are 4-4 against one another.

Though odds have not yet been released for their match, look for Daydenko to be considered a moderate to large underdog and then take any price on him at 5/4 or better. The reason for the optimism with Davydenko is that he has a 12 match winning streak going which included clay court titles in both Hamburg, Germany and Umag, Croatia.

Prior to his tough victory over Fernando Gonzalez, Davydenko's winning streak did not include a victory over a top 10 opponent. However, in winning both Umag and Hamburg Davydenko only dropped one set.

On the other hand, Andy Murray has raced to victory in both of his Montreal clashes and wil likely deserve his odds.
