Our recommendation for Murray is to take his price to win Wimbledon.
Andy Murray is one of the contenders to replace Roger Federer as the world number 1 player. To do that he will almost certainly need to win a Grand Slam as that is where the big tour ranking points are.
There's no one on tour that Murray cannot beat and if he stays healthy then 2010 looks like the year where he will take down a Slam, something that has eluded him so far.
Here are Murray's odds for the 4 Grand Slams in 2010:
Australian Open, +550 (11/2), Boylesports
French Open, +1600 (16/1), Boylesports, Sky Bet, Paddy Power
Wimbledon, +500 (5/1), Sportingbet
US Open, +450 (9/2), Boylesports
All of the odds on Murray are kind of flirty but Wimbledon is where the best value is. The odds on the French Open are long for a reason and there are plenty of clay courters that can take Murray out of Roland Garros.
Murray 'shoulda coulda woulda' won Wimbledon last year as he was in the semis and staring at a draw to the championship against players (Andy Roddick, Roger Federer) that he had one-sided winning records against. Then Roddick exploded and took the Scot out of the tournament and played Federer as closely as he, Roddick, could before eventually falling.
Federer and Nadal lead the market for Wimbledon at this point but Federer hasn't looked like himself since winning in Cincinnati earlier this year. A lot of players are scoring first time victories over Fed so there is reason to be optimistic that this year could be Murray's chance for a first time Wimbledon victory.
Our recommendation is to pound Murray now for the Wimbledon title at +500. As Wimbledon takes place in England and since Murray is the home favorite for the tournament, he is always pounded as the event draws near. That can lead to betting odds shortening and the best way to give yourself long odds on the Scot is to bet him at a distance.
Also consider sprinkling Nadal at +400 (4/1) with William Hill as a backup plan.
