Andy Murray, a finalist from the last Grand Slam played, was in action at Roland Garros earlier on Saturday as he defeated Michael Berrer in the third round of the 2011 French Open. In doing so the world number four books his spot in the French Open fourth round, the same round where Murray stumbled last season at the clay court Slam.
Next up for Murray is a match against Serbian Viktor Troicki, a player who is at a career high ranking of world number 15 but one that has never actually made the fourth round of any Grand Slam draw until this season's French Open.
In his match against Berrer, Murray suffered a little bit of a scare that certainly is not reflected in the 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 line score. In the second set Murray, in pursuit of a short Berrer ball, rolled his right ankle and had to visit the trainer on the court's sidelines. When he returned to play he suffered an immediate break of serve and that caught the attention the fans on Court Suzanne Lenglen.
However Murray hit through the pain and appeared to be uninhibited for most of the play following the trainer visitation.
Murray is 3-0 against Viktor Troicki in their past results and the Scot has never lost a set to the Serbian.
