Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova will meet Rebecca Marino on Tuesday in round one of the BGL BNP Paribas Luxembourg Open

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova has been in fairly good form over the past few months, but she’s not quite managed to produce any title winning runs. As the world No. 15, she enters this season’s BGL BNP Paribas Luxembourg Open as one of the main contenders, and it will be exciting to see if she can clinch her second WTA title of the year.

Pavlyuchenkova will begin her campaign here on Tuesday with a first round matchup against Rebecca Marino of Canada. Marino made an encouraging start to the 2011 season, but her recent results have been littered with first round losses. She’ll be keen to buck this trend as soon as possible.

Pavlyuchenkova has never previously taken on Marino, but it’s fair to say that she’s the favourite to win this contest. The Russian looks capable of stringing together at least a few victories this week, whilst Marino seems to be in the middle of a slump right now.
