Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Petra Kvitova will meet on Sunday in an eagerly awaited third round clash at the Sony Ericsson OpenYou can watch and bet on the action from this week’s WTA Miami Open at bet365No. 17 seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova made an ideal start to her Sony Ericsson Open campaign with a 6-1, 6-2 win against Agnes Szavay in round two. She has been in good form throughout 2011, and will be aiming to contend for this week’s title. Whilst she received a bye in round one, the draw has been unforgiving in handing her a third round clash against Petra Kvitova.
Kvitova is the No. 12 seed for this competition, and looks set to pose a real threat to Pavlyuchenkova. Kvitova also recorded a confident win in round two, sweeping aside Varvara Lepchenko 6-1, 6-2. She entered this competition after a run of three straight defeats, but has enjoyed a successful season so far. She’s already won two competitions, and made the quarter-finals of the Australian Open.
Kvitova has a 2-1 head to head lead against Pavlyuchenkova. She lost to the Russian in 2008, but more than made amends with a win in 2009 and a victory earlier this season in Brisbane. Kvitova appears to have the edge, but a Pavlyuchenkova success would not be a major shock.
