Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova will continue in Baku with a second round clash against Elena BovinaYou can watch and bet on the action from the WTA Baku Open at bet365Things are looking good for Anastaisa Pavlyuchenkova here in Baku. The second seed was made to work hard in round one against Russian qualifier Valeria Solovieva, but she’s well placed to launch a title challenge having escaped from this
tricky contest. The only seeded player still left in her half of the draw is Ksenia Pervak.
Pavlyuchenkova will next be in action on Thursday, when she’ll meet Elena Bovina in round two. Bovina got her campaign started with a close fought 6-0, 3-6, 7-5 win against Zarina Diyas of Kazakhstan. Bovina has performed well to qualify for this event and reach round two, but she’s going to need to be on top form to defy the second seed here.
This will be the second competitive meeting between Pavlyuchenkova and Bovina. The first meeting took place in 2008 in Stockholm, where Pavluchenkova came back from a set down to clinch a 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory. Pavlyuchenkova has improved significantly over the last few years, and she’s expected to record a more convincing win this time around.
