Ana Ivanovic and Maria Kirilenko will face off tonight in round three of the Toray Pan Pacific OpenYou can watch and bet on the action from the WTA Tokyo Open at bet365Ana Ivanovic remains a contender for this year’s Toray Pan Pacific Open title after getting past British youngster Laura Robson in round two. Robson produced a trademark determined performance, but was unable to do enough to shake the former world No.1, who eventually left the court with a 7-5, 6-4 victory.
Ivanovic will be in action tonight in round three against Maria Kirilenko. Kirilenko took apart Erika Sema in round one (6-1, 6-0), and then went on to dismiss U.S Open champion Samantha Stosur in a tense three-set showdown (6-2, 4-6, 6-4). The Russian is likely to have the edge tonight if she can find the inspiration that enabled her to get the better of Stosur.
Ivanovic has historically been able to defeat Kirilenko, and she holds a 3-1 head to head record against the 24 year-old. The pairing haven’t met since 2007 though, so past form doesn’t necessarily point towards an Ivanovic success. More importantly perhaps, Kirilenko’s sole win against Ivanovic occurred in this competition in 2006.
