Ana Ivanovic takes on Jie Zheng in round two of the US Open on day three at Flushing Meadows.

Ivanovic has enjoyed little success in New York in the past. Last year she went out in round one and the best she's ever done is reach the fourth round. However after a confidence boosting run in Cincinnati she made a strong start, defeating the dangerous Ekaterina Makarova 6-3, 6-2 on Monday.

Now she plays 21st seed Zheng who started 2010 brightly, reaching the Aussie Open semis but the rest of the year has not lived up to that early promise. She had one good run in Montreal, making the quarters there but the rest of her summer has been full of early exits including a shock 6-2, 6-1 loss to Sara Errani in New Haven.

She came through a tight opening match against Timea Bacsinszky 7-6, 7-6 but Ivanovic will feel this is a winnable one. However Zheng has won two of their three previous matches, with both wins coming in 2008 when Ivanovic was world number one.
