Agnieszka Radwanska will get her China Open campaign underway with a second round matchup against Jie Zheng

After winning the Toray Pan Pacific Open last week, Agnieszka Radwanska was granted a bye in the first round of this year’s China Open. She could prove to be one of the main contenders here in Beijing as well, having beaten the likes of Vera Zvonareva, Victoria Azarenka and Jelena Jankovic in Tokyo.

Her campaign will begin on Tuesday with a second round clash against Jie Zheng. Zheng battled back from a set down on Monday against Italian veteran Alberta Brianti to claim a 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 success. With neither player able to make an impact with their serve, Zheng just about managed to return her way to victory.

Zheng won her most recent matchup against Radwanska, which coincidentally took place in this event. That said, this win was achieved in 2008, and this time around Radwanska is expected to have the upper hand. On current form, it looks like the Pole will succeed.
