Ivo Karlovic will be a serious contender for the title this year after displaying some excellent form at the Australian Open.

Karlovic took out Radek Stepanek and Ivan Ljubicic on the way to the fourth round where he was ousted by Rafael Nadal in four sets.

Strangely enough Karlovic has never played that well in Zagreb, his best result was a run to the quarter-finals back in 2006 but since then he has never been past the second round.

Veic is a 21 year old wildcard ranked 183 who rose to the occasion at Zagreb last year, making the quarters before losing to Marin Cilic. He comes into the tournament in good form having qualified for the Australian Open.

Karlovic will need to start swiftly to avoid being given a serious first round test.
