ATP World Tour Finals Tuesday Order of Play

Group A takes the stage in both singles and doubles, with a clash between the World No. 1 and Britain’s brightest hope taking the spotlight on the third day of play in London.

First up is No. 5 seed Juan Martin del Potro and No. 7 seed Fernando Verdasco, who both
lost their first round robin matches on Sunday and look to get on the board with a victory. It
will be their first ATP World Tour-level meeting, their only prior meeting coming at the Segovia Challenger in Spain in 2006 with del Potro winning in a third set tie-break. They both have compiled their best seasons on the ATP World Tour this year with del Potro winning his first Grand Slam title at the US Open and Verdasco getting to the semi-finals at the Australian
Open and subsequently cracking the Top 10.

In the night session, World No. 1 Roger Federer plays No. 4 Andy Murray for the 10th time. Murray has a 6-3 record against Federer, which includes a round robin win at last year’s
Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai. However, Federer did win their last meeting, at the ATP
World Tour Masters 1000 event in Cincinnati in August. The Swiss is a perfect 7-0 in second
round robin matches at this event . Federer won his sixth Wimbledon title in July (2003-07,
2009) and it was an all-time men’s record 15th Grand Slam singles crown. Murray, from
Scotland, has been ranked as high as No. 2 (for four weeks) this year and is a clear threat for
the top spot in the years to come. Federer increased his lead to 1,145 points over Nadal with
his win over Verdasco on Sunday and is now one win away from becoming ATP World Tour
Champion and clinch the year-end No. 1 spot in the South African Airways ATP Rankings - a position he held for four years (2004-07). If he finishes No. 1 for a fifth time, he will join Pete Sampras (six times from 1993-98) and Jimmy Connors (five times from 1974-78) as the only players with five or more year-end No. 1 finishes in the history of the ATP Rankings (since 1973).

Group A in doubles is also on, with No. 1 seeds Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic facing
No. 5 seeds Frantisek Cermak and Michal Mertinak, who are five-time ATP World Tour
titlists this year; and No. 3 seeds Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles trying to stop No. 8
seeds Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski, two-time titlists this season.
