Federer opens against Verdasco in the round robin.

Roger Federer and Fernando Verdasco have met three times and Federer dominates their head to head series.

In their three matches, Federer is undefeated and has yet to drop a set to Verdasco.

They have only met one time on hardcourt however and that was at Indian Wells in the quarterfinals.  Verdasco was able to play Federer tight in the second set of that match as he, Verdasco, lost that set in a tiebreaker by the narrowest of margins.

Early betting lines for this match overwhelmingly favor Federer, despite the fact that in his most recent match he lost to Julien Benneteau, a player of much lower quality than Verdasco.  Going back to Basel, Federer has lost two matches in a row, a rarity for a world number 1.

Let's look at the prices and see if maybe Verdasco's odds have been lengthened too far.

With repect to Verdasco's price in this match there is value with Betfair.  That sportsbook currently has Verdasco's odds at +518 (about 26/5).

Anything longer than +400 (4/1) looks like a good sprinkle for the Spaniard as there are many signs that Federer isn't the dominant player he was back at Wimbledon and the French.

SkyBet is another site that has Verdasco longer than +400 as they currently have his odds at +450 (9/2).

If you are dead set on betting Federer then you need to pound him with Boylesports at -450 (2/9) but that is not our recommendation.  He is a favorite but not the heavy one he is made out to be.
