Jurgen Melzer opens his campaign at the Studena Croatia Open against Jan Hajek.

2010 is rapidly turning into a golden year for Melzer and it shows no signs of stopping soon. The Austrian made his first ATP 500 final in Hamburg last week, losing to Andrey Golubev in the final.

With Umag being the final clay-court stop before the North American hard court swing properly kicks off, Melzer will be looking to cash in his form on the dirt for more points.

After the luxury of a first round bye as second seed, Melzer opens against Czech Hajek who knocked out a qualifier 6-4, 6-3 in the first round.

Hajek is ranked 78, won a challenger in his home country at the start of June but has not troubled anyone inside the top 50 on clay this year. He lost fairly comfortably to Ferrero in the Hamburg second round last week.
