Novak Djokovic felt he adapted well to the Rotterdam courts during a comfortable first round win at the ABN AMRO World tennis tournament.
Djokovic is top seed this week and he reached round two when Sergiy Stakhovsky retired at 6-4, 2-1 down.
Djokovic is back in action after a disappointing quarter-final exit in five sets to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Djokovic has looked in top form in many of the smaller tournaments and Masters Series but has not looked like winning a slam since his Australian Open triumph in 2008.
He next plays Swiss Marco Chiudinelli who he defeated two weeks ago in Melbourne in four sets.
Speaking after his win over Stakhovsky, Djokovic said, “Every first round is tricky because you have to get used to the surface, you have to get used to the surrounding and atmosphere in the stadium. I did really well adapting to it from the start. I felt quite comfortable on the court, and very dominant.”
