Peter Luczak is the top seed in Poznan. However the Aussie who is ranked 78 in the world is at his least comfortable on red clay being a naturally attacking serve-volleyer and he went out in the first round of Bastad last week. He has a testing first round against the highly talented Pole Jerzy Janowicz who has won futures titles on clay this year and Luczak could well crash out at the first hurdle.
Second seed Federico Gil is probably the title favourite. The Portuguese clay-court specialist swept to victory at the Milan challenger last month and also made the final of the main tour event in Estoril back in April.
An unorthodox pick for the title could be third seed Dustin Brown. The 6'5 Jamaican recently cracked the top 100 after some strong performances on the grass but as a serve-volleyer he is not known for his clay-court prowess. However his towering serve is difficult to deal with on any surface and he pushed Gilles Simon all the way in Stuttgart last week.
