Roger Federer remains in the draw as the Paris Masters head to the quarterfinals.
The 2010 ATP Paris Masters are winding down as the weekend semifinals and final match are starting to shape up. Friday will feature all 4 quarterfinals in the singles draw headlined by Roger Federer vs Jurgen Melzer.
Federer is 0-2 against Melzer and both of those victories were straight set wins from 2010.
Here is Friday's order of play:
Central Court starts at 2pm
[8] Andy Roddick (USA) vs [4] Robin Soderling (SWE)
[10] Nikolay Davydenko (RUS) vs Michael Llodra (FRA)
Not Before 7:30 PM
[1] Roger Federer (SUI) vs [11] Jurgen Melzer (AUT)
Not Before 8:30 PM
[3] Andy Murray (GBR) vs [12] Gael Monfils (FRA)
Andy Murray remains the only clear threat to Federer and the title in Paris.
Melzer has a slight chance to win his quarterfinal as he has been sharp lately but he clearly is a cut below the Swiss Maestro.
Soderling, Roddick, Davydenko, and Llodra are the competitors on the opposite side of the draw to Fed but they only have a combined 5 straight up wins against the current world number 2 in their careers. To put that win total into perspective those are 5 wins in 54 combined matches so you can't give any one of them enough credit to take the Paris Masters down, provided that Federer makes the final.
Andy Murray is a significant roadblock for Federer however as the Scot is 8-5 heads up against Fed including 2 recent match-wins from ATP Toronto and ATP Shanghai.
