Andy Roddick returns to the tour at this week's ATP 500 event in Memphis.
Memphis hosts the second ATP 500 event of the year and the draw is very much wide open with the established names coming under threat from a host of in-form rising stars. Two-time champion Roddick is top seed and going for his 30th ATP title. The American was bitterly disappointed with the manner of last month's fourth round exit at the Australian Open and will be looking to put that behind him as soon as possible. However he has a nasty opener against the talented young Lithuanian Ricardo Berankis, definitely a name to watch for the future.
Fernando Verdasco won the San Jose title at the weekend but once again faces the dangerous big serving Milos Raonic, this time in round one. Verdasco made a first round exit in Memphis last year and he will need a very fast start to avoid the same fate.
Juan Martin Del Potro continues to be the most dangerous of floaters. The Argentine was on song in San Jose, making the last four and last year's runner-up John Isner will hardly be delighted about drawing him in round one. Expect the winner of this one to go far.
Sam Querrey won the title last year but the American has been in a bit of a lull since last summer so do not expect a repeat.
Lleyton Hewitt was outplayed by Del Potro in San Jose last week but the Aussie can never be counted out. Along with Del Potro, none of the seeds want to get him early on.
