It’s another big serving encounter for John Isner when he takes on Philipp Petzschner in tonight’s Memphis semi-finals.

Isner has looked very dangerous so far this year, winning the title in Auckland and then making the fourth round of the Australian Open. He is delighted with how 2010 has gone so far.
“This is a dream start to the season,” Isner said. “Everybody wants to do well at the beginning of the year and I’ve done that so far. It’s only my third tournament of the year and I already have 11 match wins. That’s pretty big so far."
He has barely been troubled on the way to the Memphis semi-finals, winning a big serving encounter against Ivo Karlovic 6-1, 7-6, notable for how well Isner tamed the Karlovic serve.
He will need more of that returning ability again against the big serving Petzschner who likes to follow his serve into the net. Fernando Verdasco’s early defeat completely opened up the bottom quarter and Petzschner has taken full advantage.
However given Isner’s current form you can’t really look past him making another ATP final.
