Benneteau is at his best indoors and he had too much nous for Gael Monfils in Friday’s quarter-finals, winning 6-3, 7-5 with a polished display of attacking tennis.
Tsonga strolled past Illya Marchenko 6-3, 6-4 to reach the last four and he is the hot favourite to win the title now Robin Soderling is out.
Benneteau will again be looking to serve well and get into the net but while Tsonga plays predominantly from the back of the court, unlike Monfils he will always be looking to dictate play and will probably do a better job of keeping Benneteau pinned to the back of the court with his power.
