James Blake continues his comeback against Ben Becker on Thursday at the Farmers Classic.

Blake won his first match since March on Tuesday after several months out with a knee injury. He eased past Leonardo Mayer 6-1, 6-4 and it was a confidence boosting win for the American who was a finalist at this tournament back in 2007.

“I’m really happy with the way I played,” Blake said. “I went into the match with the goal of just controlling my side of the court and playing with the right kind of energy. I’m back to feeling healthy, and I want to just play that way without the huge expectations or anything, just playing my game.”

He will be fairly confident against Becker who was not all that impressive in defeating lucky loser Giovanni Lapentti 7-5, 7-6. Becker played very well on the grass but crashed out in the Atlanta first round last week.

Blake also holds a 2-0 head-to-head record against the German with wins in Delray Beach 2007 and Halle 2008.
