Former Wimbledon junior champion Grigor Dimitrov plays veteran Tommy Haas tonight in Los Angeles.
Haas has been struggling to make an impact since returning to the tour in May, winning just one of his six matches and his ranking is now nearly out of the top 600. He lost in straight sets to Robby Ginepri in Atlanta and will be desperate for a win of any sorts this week.
A wildcard entry to this event, he has not been particularly fortunate with the draw, getting seventh seed Grigor Dimitrov but it could have been far worse. Although he stands at a career high ranking of 57, Dimitrov has not lived up to all the hype at the start of the season of being the next Federer.
The Bulgarian has also not performed particularly strongly on hard courts, losing in the first round of Atlanta to big serving qualifier Rajeev Ram.
However against a former Grand Slam semi-finalist he will be very motivated and Haas can’t buy a win right now. Look for Dimitrov to progress in three.
