Ernests Gulbis will look to build on his stunning victory over Juan Martin Del Potro at the Farmers Classic.
Gulbis scored a big upset on Friday night by taking out second seed Juan Martin Del Potro 6-2, 6-4. Del Potro never looked comfortable and grew in frustration, particularly after blowing a 3-1 second set lead.
In contrast, Gulbis was happy to take risks and appeared full of confidence. Afterwards he described the victory as one of the best of his career. The Latvian is a notoriously streaky player and this run has come out of nowhere but he’s playing well enough to go on and take the title.
Bogomolov Jnr is relishing life on the tour right now after finally breaking through and establishing himself in the top 100 almost a decade after he was labeled the next big thing of American tennis.
He’s scored back-to-back upsets in LA, firstly outplaying Grigor Dimitrov and then hitting back to knock out fourth seed Thomaz Bellucci 1-6, 6-4, 6-1.
Prediction: Gulbis in three
