Rafael Nadal and Caroline Wozniacki are the top seeds at ATP Indian Wells this year with the starting date of March 10th quickly approaching.
From Nadal's perspective there is not a lot in his draw ahead of the semifinals that could be considered threatening, unless Jo-Wilfried Tsonga plays his best or David Ferrer stays on the form that saw him beat Nadal in Melbourne.
Later in the draw, should Nadal survive as expected, he could face Robin Soderling of Sweden or Scotland's Andy Murray, two very dangerous hard courters. Murray made the final of the Australian Open earlier this year while Soderling won the last Masters Series 1000 title in late 2010 (ATP Paris).
In the other half of the draw, Roger Federer is the second seed and his prospective semifinal opponents include Novak Djokovic or Andy Roddick. Tomas Berdych, a potential quarterfinal opponent for Federer, could present a problem as the Czech national eliminated the Swiss Maestro from the ATP Miami draw last season.
An interesting match-up could take place in the round of 16 however as wild card Milos Raonic has been on a rampage in 2011. Should Raonic and Federer meet it would be interesting to see who comes away the victor.
On the women's side Caroline Wozniacki's main challengers are Kim Clijsters and Vera Zvonareva. However Jelena Jankovic, seeded 6th, enters the draw looking dangerous once again and she is the returning champion at the event.
The main draws start on Thursday March 10th however do not look for the best of the women's and men's sides to be active that day the top seeds in the draws will have a bye.
