Nikolay Davydenko has drawn one of the most dangerous floaters in Ernests Gulbis in round two of Indian Wells.

Gulbis has long been regarded as a player of immense natural talent reminding many of a young Marat Safin but he has been guilty of not applying himself as much as he could to his tennis, until now.

With Safin’s former coach now on board Gulbis has been making big strides in 2010, notching up some decent scalps on the way to the Memphis semi-finals before winning the title in Delray Beach.

Davydenko will have his work cut out. Although he has beaten Gulbis twice before, the Russian will be well aware of how dangerous he is, having only just sneaked past him in a final set tiebreak in Miami two years ago.
