Article examines the ATP Indian Wells favorites as the main draw continues from the BNP Paribas Open.
Roger Federer is the third favorite to win the 2011 ATP Indian Wells tournament according to betting trends (ie. Paddy Power). Both Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are considered the heavier favorites and in the case of Djokovic that is a new development as Federer has been favored ahead of him for years.
But the world number three is on perfect form in 2011 as he enters the draw having won the Australian Open and ATP Dubai earlier this year. There are plenty of scenarios at Indian Wells that would see Djokovic push Federer down to number 3 and the Serbian into number 2, something that is bound to happen sooner or later.
Federer might face hot-shot Canadian Milos Raonic in the fourth round and if Federer should stumble there against a barrage of aces and should Djokovic make a deep run at Indian Wells, the two players would change spots when the rankings updated later this month.
Indian Wells is underway as it started on March 10th and it will continue until March 20th. The qualifying matches are now complete and other dangerous players in the draw besides Federer, Djokovic, and Nadal include the following:
Robin Soderling
Andy Murray
Juan Martin Del Potro
Andy Roddick
Milos Raonic
