John Isner takes on Horacio Zeballos in the final match on the day on Stadium court.
The conditions in Houston should suit Isner's game this week. Ivo Karlovic has been racking up the aces and even won the title a few years back and Isner will be hoping to experience similar success.
Last year he crashed out in the second round in an epic encounter with Xavier Malisse and he will be hoping to avoid a similar fate today. Like Sam Querrey, 2011 has been disappointing for Isner. He seemed in better form in Miami where he made the fourth round but his progress up the rankings has ground to a halt and he has plenty to defend over the summer.
Zeballos put one over the talented teenager Ryan Harrison 6-4, 6-3 in the opening round yesterday. Harrison is not at his most comfortable on clay and the experienced Argentine ground him down in three sets.
They played in Rome last year with Isner winning an epic 4-6, 7-6, 7-5. On a faster surface, expect a slightly more comfortable win for the second seed today.
