Guillermo Garcia-Lopez aims to reach his second ATP semi-final of the year when he plays Pablo Cuevas in the Houston quarter-finals.
Cuevas predictably ended the hopes of 2008 finalist James Blake in the second round, defeating the veteran 7-5, 6-1. Cuevas hit the spotlight in Miami, when he knocked out defending champion Andy Roddick for the biggest win over his career and Uruguay's top player is high on confidence at the moment.
Garcia-Lopez snapped a five match losing streak with a dominant 6-4, 6-1 win over India's Somdev Devvarman on Thursday. “I played pretty consistent and it was a solid match for my first time on clay this year,” he said. “Overall, I am happy with the start. I look forward to the quarter-finals.”
