Richard Gasquet takes on Daniel Brands in the second round of the Allianz Swiss Open Gstaad.

Gasquet is making his return to tour tennis after a month out with a slight injury after Queens in June. He is simply enjoying competing again as twelve months ago he still had the shadow of his legal battle against his drugs ban going on amid his comeback to the ATP Tour.

Gasquet had some fine results on the red dirt earlier this year, winning back to back titles at the Bordeaux Challenger and ATP Nice. He is a former Gstaad champion having lifted the title in 2006.

Both these players enjoyed straight sets first round wins. 6’5 Brands is ranked 29 places lower than Gasquet at 76 and made a name for himself at Wimbledon with a surprise run to the fourth round.

Brands has not looked too comfortable on the clay over the past couple of weeks, going out in round one at Bastad and Hamburg.
