Richard Gasquet takes on the in-form Albert Montanes for a semi-final berth at the Allianz Swiss Open Gstaad.

Gasquet won the Gstaad title back in 2006 and has provided the usual mix of sublime and inconsistency so far this week. He did enough to get past Germany’s Daniel Brands 6-7, 6-3, 6-0 in the second round and knows he will need to raise his level for Montanes.

The Frenchman hit a red hot streak on the clay earlier this year, winning back-to-back titles in Bordeaux and Nice and coming close to putting out Andy Murray at the French Open. Grass is often his best surface but unfortunately for him, an injury sustained at Queens put him out of Wimbledon.

Montanes has been making his mark on the clay over the past few weeks, taking the Stuttgart title. He has not really stood out as a potential Gstaad champion though so far, needing three sets in rounds one and two.

Gasquet has won all three of his past matches with Montanes and our tip is for the Frenchman to make it four.
