Mikhail Youzhny takes on Yuri Schukin in the quarters of the Allianz Swiss Open Gstaad. Schukin, a qualifier from Kazakhstan for a place in the last four. Schukin is the world number 147 but he’s been playing well above his ranking this week, taking out Hamburg champion Andrey Golubev in three sets in round one then beating Estoril runner-up Federico Gil 6-3, 6-3.
On paper it looks like a dream draw but it will be far from easy for Youzhny. However he is a class act on clay and you would think his experience at this level will help him find a way through.
