Feliciano Lopez is the favourite for this week’s Aegon International event in Eastbourne.

Lopez had one of the best results of his career last week when he took out Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals at Queens. Unfortunately for the Spaniard he could not maintain his run and exited in the semi-finals but his form last week makes him a big favourite for the Eastbourne title.

Wildcard James Ward is a decent grass-court player, possessing a big serve and some solid shots from the back of the court. Ward’s favourite surface is medium paced hard courts. He’s not particularly comfortable at the net and that does hinder him a bit on the grass.

If Ward comes out swinging and makes a confident start then this could be a fairly close match. However if he is nervous and makes a lot of errors early on then Lopez will run away with it.

Either way it is hard to see Ward taking a set here and Lopez will undoubtedly be set for stiffer challenges to come.
