Novak Djokovic has a tricky quarter-final in Dubai against the in form Ivan Ljubicic.

The seeds are falling fast in Dubai and defending champion Djokovic is hoping not to be among them. Ljubicic defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga yesterday and could pose a serious challenge. 

Ljubicic is a former runner-up in Dubai having made the final back in 2005 when he lost to Roger Federer.

He looked in brilliant form against Tsonga, smashing 15 aces and conceding just four points on serve during his 7-5, 6-3 win.

However, Djokovic leads Ljubicic 4-1 on head-to-heads and beat him three times last year, each time fairly comprehensively in straight sets. Two of those victories came on hard courts, a 7-6, 6-4 win in Cincinnati and a 6-3, 6-1, 6-3 win at the US Open.

In order to continue that record Djokovic will need to play considerably better than he did in the second round where he looked quite shaky at times.
