Andy Murray won his first round match in straight sets in Dubai but it appears that he is still recovering from his exploits down under.

Murray was ultimately not really troubled by Igor Kunitsyn, a Russian qualifier ranked just inside the top 100 but he was kept on court much longer than he would have wished for during his 6-2, 6-3 win.

The second game of the match lasted 25 minutes and became the second longest in the history of the ATP tour.

The monster game did little to ease the pains Murray has been feeling in his knee, back and hip since the Australian Open and left the Scot looking considerably stiff for the rest of the match.

"My ankle was sore at the start of the match and I was really out of breath early on," Murray explained. "I have not practised that much or trained that much and there were a lot of long rallies. You don't think a game like that at 1-0 could make a huge difference to the match, but I think it did. I've never played a game like that before."

Murray will need his body to respond more willing for the rest of the tournament.
