Florent Serra is aiming to make the Grand Prix Hassan II final for the second successive year when he takes on Victor Hanescu.

Serra was runner-up to Juan Carlos Ferrero in last year’s final and he’s been enjoying an equally good run this week, out-hitting Guillermo Garcia Lopez 6-2, 6-2 in the quarter-finals.

Hanescu has taken out the two most dangerous unseeded players in the draw in successive rounds. He’s not had it easy, battling back to defeat Jarkko Nieminen 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 and then outlasting Richard Gasquet 7-6, 4-6, 6-3.

Serra leads their head-to-head 2-0, including a 6-4, 6-3, 6-7, 7-6 win in the French Open second round a couple of years ago.

Hanescu has a much bigger serve than Serra and is always in with a chance if he gets that working but the Frenchman relishes everything about this tournament and is our pick to make the final again.
