Fernando Verdasco faces Tommy Robredo in the match of the quarter-finals in Bastad.

Verdasco was perceived to be in poor form going into this tournament but he made those statements look ridiculous during an emphatic thrashing of Stephane Robert 6-1, 6-1 in round two, A rejuvenated Verdasco looked every inch a title contender as he made his third straight quarter-final in Bastad.

Robredo had a much tougher time, needing three sets to see off Andrey Golubev 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. This  is just the third quarter-final of 2010 for the two-time Bastad champion.

These two are locked at 4-4 on the head-to-head having faced each other regularly on the tour since 2003. Robredo had a lot of success early on in their careers but Verdasco has taken the last two, most recently 6-3, 6-2 in the Valencia quarters last autumn on indoor hard.

Going by his second round result, Verdasco will take some stopping and Robredo does not look to be in the form to do that.
