This is a big match for Soderling but it is one that he may be overrated in.

This is an important match for Soderling is he is the fifth ranked player in the world and he is WITHOUT his fair share of titles.  He only has 5 outright tournament wins total in his career and only 3 in the last 3 seasons.  Soderling has proven that he can beat anyone on any surface but he has been an underachiever when it comes to the late round matches in ATP events.

He has the fewest singles titles of anyone in the top 10 although Tomas Berdych and Fernando Verdasco each have 5 titles as well.

Almagro has been the more convincing player at ATP Bastad as he has won 6 of 7 sets played while Soderling has won 6 of 9.  The Swede has faced the tougher competition however as he had David Ferrer in the semis, another noteworth clay courter.

Soderling leads the head to heads 3-2 but both of Almagro's wins over Soderling have come on clay (Madrid 2010, Hamburg 2009).

This is definitely a tricky match that could be going 3 sets and the best line available may be to take Almagro at +162 due to the fact that he's beaten Soderling on clay in two consecutive matches.
