The’Golden Swing’ will conclude next week with the ATP Acapulco Open, which will involve the likes of David Ferrer, Fernando Verdasco and Milos Raonic

The Golden Swing will head over to Acapulco for its final week, and it seems as if this year’s ATP Acapulco Open will provide a fitting conclusion to the four-tournament series. A number of the biggest names in tennis will be in action here, and the 500 ranking points on offer should give everyone involved plenty of reason to give it their best shot.

David Ferrer, the world No. 6, is coming here to defend the title that he won last year. He’s already won the ATP Auckland Open this season, and a second consecutive Acapulco success doesn’t appear to be out of the Spaniard’s reach. Ferrer’s fourth round Australian Open opponent, Milos Raonic, will also be in the draw for this week’s competition.

Raonic has made a late entry into this event, and it seems as if he’s looking to sharpen his clay-court game ahead of Canada’s next Davis Cup match. Raonic will be playing in Sunday’s ATP Memphis Open final against Andy Roddick, and is aiming to win his second tournament of the month. It will be an incredible feat if he can reach the latter stages here as well. His training sessions in Spain will have given him solid preparation, though he’s had to play a lot of tennis already over the past few weeks.

Fernando Verdasco, no stranger to Raonic, will be in the draw here as well. The world No. 9 was a finalist in Acapulco in 2004, and looks set to launch a major challenge for Ferrer’s title. Other big names in the draw include Nicolas Almagro, Stanislas Wawrinka, Albert Montanes, Juan Monaco and David Nalbandian. Out of this pack, Almagro stands out as a serious contender. His form in the Golden Swing has been superb, and he won this event in 2009 and 2008.
