The Williams sisters will be back on the tennis courts next week as the AEGON International field will include both stars.
Two of the most dominant players of the last decade will return to the tennis courts this week coming up, as the Williams sisters, Serena and Venus, make a long-awaited comeback to the WTA at the AEGON International in Birmingham.
One year ago they were the top two players in the world but since that time both players have suffered from injuries.
Serena in particular has not played a match since defeating Vera Zvonareva in the final for Wimbledon 2010. The grass court champion suffered a foot injury in a German restaurant shortly afterwards and has had complications during the recovery.
Venus has seen some action since Wimbledon as she challenged two WTA tournaments but hip and abdominal injuries have plagued her this year.
It's unclear what to expect from the two players heading into the grass court season as it will be difficult for either of them to play top level tennis after such lengthy lay-offs. They are, however, the singles champions at the All England Club in nine of the last eleven years and that will make them feared opponents.
