Juan Martin del Potro and Radek Stepanek defeated David Nalbandian and Andy Roddick 6-3, 6-4 Tuesday at the AEGON Championships in London. All four players had won their singles matches earlier in the day prior to taking the court for the first-round doubles match. Del Potro and Stepanek, partnering for the second time this season, won 78 per cent of their service points and converted one break of serve in each set to claim victory.
Rafael Nadal teamed with countryman Marc Lopez to defeat Brazilians Thomaz Bellucci and Andre Sa 7-6(6), 6-2. Both teams struggled to break serve in the first set; Lopez and Nadal went zero of 11 on break point opportunities, while the Brazilians missed all five of their break chances. After winning a close tie-break, the Spaniards broke Bellucci and Sa twice in the second set to clinch the win in one hour and 29 minutes.
