Williams cannot be expected to go through both Kim Clijsters and Caroline Wozniacki to win this title.

Venus Williams is a semifinalist and she's done a good job at that as her Slam results were starting to taper off, a bit.  In the semis this year she will face Kim Clijsters and Williams is coming in as a little bit of an underdog as BoyleSports have the longest odds on the American at +180 (9/5) to win straight up.

Williams is 30 years old and she's running against younger legs for the most part now and that's a definitely a bad fix to be in this late in a tough Grand Slam tournament.  Keeping in mind that Williams has not won the US Open since 2001, when she was 21, you can't feel good about her chances of pulling off back to back wins against the two proven hard courters on tour in the last year.

Clijsters knocked Williams out of the US Open last year in the 4th round and she has won NINETEEN matches in a row at Flushing Meadows.  The Belgian has missed tournaments at Flushing Meadows due to 'retirement' but she's slain better hard courters than V. Williams in her last 2 appearances before this year, including Caroline Wozniacki and Serena Williams.

Our recommendation is to bet against Venus Williams and you can do that by taking Kim Clijsters to beat her in Friday's semifinal with SportingBet at -187 (10/19).
