Svetlana Kuznetsova and Silvia Soler-Espinosa will contest the second reverse singles rubber of the Russia v Spain Fed Cup tieYou can watch and bet on Kuznetsova v Soler-Espinosa live for free at bet365 > live tennisSvetlana Kuznetsova hadn’t been sure that she’d be fit for this weekend’s Fed Cup action, but she showed no signs of weakness in her 6-3, 6-1 win over Carla Suarez Navarro. The Russian’s win took the scoreline of the tie to 2-0, and it looks like her next match will be a mere formality, as Maria Sharapova will take on Suarez Navarro before Kuznetsova and Soler-Espinosa step on court.
“I hadn’t been feeling very well over the last few days as it was very difficult for me to acclimatise after playing in the Australian Open, but I felt better and I felt very comfortable today out there on the court,” said Kuznetsova after her win on Saturday.
Suarez Navarro agreed that Kuznetsova was playing well. “Her forehand and backhand was excellent,” commented the Spaniard. “I thought I served well, but it was difficult for me to try and do anything. I had a chance in the first set when I was 4-3 up, but I couldn’t press home that advantage and Svetlana was just playing very good tennis today.”
The two-time slam winner’s next match may well be of little consequence, but she’s not allowing this to affect her mindset. “Yes we are two love up,” said Kuznetsova. “But we can’t relax at the moment. We have to make sure that we stay focused and get the all-important third victory tomorrow.”
