The Meknes Challenger is the first of the series of clay-court tournaments on the Moroccan Tennis Tour which stretches until the end of March.
As the first clay-court challenger for several weeks it's hard to know what to expect as most of the field will be limbering up on the red dirt for the first time in 2012. Romania's Adrian Ungur is top seed and favourite for the title after a career best start to the season. Ungur reached the Bucaramanga challenger final a few weeks ago on the clay of Columbia and he made a further three finals in 2011 to move to the cusp of the world's top 100.
The Davis Cup can do huge things for some players and Andreas Haider-Maurer enjoyed a massive confidence boost in helping Austria to a shock first round win over Russia last week. Second seed in Meknes, you can't count out a man who made two ATP quarter-finals on clay last season.
If you followed the clay-court challenger action in 2011 then the name of Daniel Munoz de la Nava will have popped up quite a bit. However despite his success last year, don't back the Spaniard this week, he's currently on an eight match losing streak.
Czechs Ivo Minar and Jan Hajek are among the seeds and although neither player is in great form right now, we've highlighted them as ones to watch as they did well in Morocco last year, particularly Minar who won the Rabat challenger title.
