Janko Tipsarevic meets Richard Gasquet in an enticing battle of the shot-makers in round three of the Australian Open.
One of the tour's more eccentric and colourful characters, after his second round win Tipsarevic spent virtually the entire press conference reading a book on Davis Cup history and only flicking the occasional glance at the throng of assembled journalists.
However he did reveal that he's taking inspiration from Rafa Nadal's autobiography to try and push himself further in the game.
"I read a great thing in Nadal's book where (Nadal's coach) Uncle Toni was always saying to him, 'You're not special because of who you are, you're special because of what you do,'" Tipsarevic told the press. "I cannot expect opponents to give me victories just because I'm top 10. There's a bunch of good players who were in my position ... and then they drop. I really don't want to have that."
Regardless of what he's been reading, Tipsarevic needs to step up a gear to stay in the competition. He's had a couple of tough four setters with Dmitry Tursunov and James Duckworth and Gasquet has the potential to put him on the plane home.
The last time these two played was back in 2005. Gasquet has won both their matches to date but they're so long ago, both players can hardly remember them.
This could well go the distance. Look for Tipsarevic to have the edge but it'll be tight.
