Australian Open 2012 - Facts and Figures from the 4th round action taking place this Saturday and Sunday.
We are already looking at quarterfinal stages of the Australian Open and the matches are getting more and more exciting.
Already over the weekend we had some very thrilling matches both in the men’s and women’s competition.
In the women’s competition the stand out match has to be the 3-set thriller between Na Li and Kim Clijsters.
Clijsters suffered a minor ankle injury during the match and had to save 5 match points before winning in 3 sets 4-6 7-6 6-4.
Also, we had a surprise exit by Serena Williams as she was defeated in 2 sets by Russia’s Ekaterina Makarova.
In the men’s competition the most notable event was Tsonga’s dramatic 5-set match against Nishikori of Japan and his exit from the competition. Despite sharing little physical resemblance, the similarities in their game are striking and the match really felt like a battle. Until the last point was played it felt like it could go either way.
